Turmeric Powder^*

Turmeric is more commonly used as a spice than a medicine, though it has some medicine effects. Turmeric root has been used for centuries in ancient medicine as a natural anti-bacterial to treat skin infections, boils, wounds and burns. As a potent anti-oxidant, it also protects the body from free-radical damage, and is capable of reducing inflammation by lowering histamine levels and by possibly increasing production of natural cortisone by the adrenal glands.

Among it's many other mild medicinal effects, Turmeric is anti-tumor and antibacterial, provides relief of liver damage and stimulates bile production. Studies have also provided preliminary evidence that Turmeric can reduce blood platelets from clumping together which, in turn, improves circulation and may help against atherosclerosis. It has even been shown to provide some level of insect repellency.

Use turmeric powder in skin care preparations and to achieve a bright, pumpkin flesh yellow natural color in soaps and other formulations.

Store in a tightly closed container, in a cool (below 25 °C), dry, well-ventilated area. Protect against physical damage, freezing or overheating. Wear protective gloves, safety goggles, and clean body-covering clothing.
