A widely used herb in cooking, especially Mediterranean dishes, Rosemary has also been used as a fragrance in soaps and cosmetics.

In bath & body products, Rosemary is great in infusions for a hair rinse, scalp treatment, or in massage oils to relieve muscular tensions, pain and stiffness. Add to soaps for a great “first-shower-of-the-day” wake-up soap. Also used in potpourri and sachets.

Traditionally used by herbalists to improve memory, relieve muscle pains and spasms, stimulate hair growth, and support the circulatory and nervous systems, Rosemary is also believed to affect the menstrual cycle, relieving menstrual cramps, increasing urine flow, and reducing kidney pain (e.g., from kidney stones).

WARNINGS:

  • Doxorubicin:  In a laboratory study, rosemary extract increased the effectiveness of doxorubicin in treating human breast cancer cells. Human studies will be necessary to determine whether this is true in people. Meanwhile, those taking doxorubicin should consult with a healthcare practitioner before taking rosemary.
