Description: Sweet, woody, fruity, floral aroma. Rosewood has a reddish bark and heartwood. It is a small evergreen tree now controlled as an endangered species by the Government of Brazil. The rosewood oil we sell is responsibly harvested soley from plantations where reforestation is registered and carefully regulated.
Color & Consistency: Colorless to pale yellow, thin liquid.
Strength of Aroma: Medium.
Common Uses: Rosewood is credited with being a bactericidal,
anti-fungal, antiviral, anti-parasitic; a cellular stimulant, immune system stimulant, tissue regenerator, tonic, antidepressant, antimicrobial, and an aphrodisiac. It is also regarded as a general balancer to the emotions. It is extremely antibiotic, having the highest inhibition rate against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.

Aromatic Scent: A gently soft floral scent that is at once woodsy and fruity, as well as having a characteristic warmth. Rosewood oil has a high linalool component, and as such is very valuable to the flavor and fragrance industry.
History: Rosewood has only been used in aromatherapy in the latter half of the 20th century. Unfortunately, overharvestation for the furniture industry drove rosewood to the point of endangerment. However, the Brazilian government has taken over regulation of the rosewood plantations.
