L'Origan Original Vintage
[compare to Coty®-brand]
This very important fragrance has over 100 years of history behind it.
In Europe, department stores (as opposed to boutiques) brought the range of options in fragrance to an entirely new clientele. Stores like Au Bon Marche, Les Galleries Lafayette and perfumery stores such as Les Etablissements Lubin grew extremely popular with a new century and a population on the threshold of a stylish new age. Perfumer and businessman Francois Joseph de Spoturno Coty was the first person to blend a harmonious combination of synthetic and natural perfumery. He recognized the artistic and commercial importance of both scent and packaging.
Utterly a creation of it's time, this scent has more recently been changed and reworked by Coty®. Our interpretation of this lovely Edwardian scent was founded on an original, well preserved bottle of the perfume from the mid-20th century. Our perfumers have painstakingly extracted and augmented the notes and created a delicious work of art. Unlike the current blander versions, this rendering has the elegance and tenacity of the original fragrance.
L'Origan – neither floral nor oriental – settles like a soft, powdery cloud with top notes of carnation, violet and heliotrope with a sharp, sparkle of anise. The floral heart of bergamot, orange, neroli and ylang ylang is grounded with a spicy clove, yielding to a sensual base... a blend of heliotripin, vanillin, coumarin, civet, vetiver and musks.
“Like honey dissolving in hot tea, orange blossom and jasmine lose their radiant form amid the vanillic sweetness of coumarin and the leathery duskiness of musk.”
And it's phthalate-free, too!
Packaged in HDPE containers.
